Hit the foam softball with the little green plastic bat. Hit it so hard that it landed in a tall olive tree – and there it stayed. He surmises that to release the ball from the tree, a good toss of the plastic green bat should do the trick. Now, the next logical step is to find something to nudge the foam ball and the green plastic bat – a small leaf rake should do the trick. Who would have thought that the olive branches would grab hold of the small rake in that way. Scouting out our garage, boy genius grabs a large push broom and heads down the street to the foam ball plastic green bat small leaf rake eating olive tree with determination. A few javelin like tosses of the push broom sends the green plastic bat to the ground. A few more release the small leaf rake. It seems as though nothing will release the foam softball, but boy genius will not be deterred. Armed with the deadly large push broom, another toss and crack crack. The push broom returns to earth where the brush part of the broom breaks in half. Now, hard tosses of each of the broken pieces of the broom, and … nothing. After several more attempts, a defeated boy genius returns to our garage with only a green plastic bat, handle of a push broom and a small leaf rake. Lost in the grabby tree is a foam softball and two halves of a push broom brush. All wait for another day. Time for boy genius to rest.
